2019 Band Camp Electives
Elective preferences will be honored in order of receipt of application and based on availability and course enrollment caps.
This elective will cover the study of music form and chord structure.
In this elective, campers will participate in chamber ensemble groups and rehearse for a student convocation performance. Placement into a chamber ensemble will be determined through the audition process.
This elective will include the study of music from the classical era to modern genres such as rock, funk, and world music.
Campers will practice their sightreading skills and work on techniques to enhance this ability.
This elective focuses on the fundamentals of conducting of a band.
In this elective, campers will participate in a jazz band and rehearse for a student convocation performance. Placement into this ensemble is determined through the audition process. This elective is for high school students only.
This elective is geared towards teaching campers how to effectively use their voice and the art of singing.
The Science of Music
Campers will study the scientific principles of music, ranging from how the ear hears sound waves to participation in experiments.
This elective focuses on enhancing camper leadership and is ideal for campers who are aiming to be student leaders in their band programs.
Future Music Educators
This elective reviews and discusses music education as a career. If you want to be a band director one day, this is for you!
Review marching fundamentals, learn and use drill charts, study DCI performances of the past, and learn how to put all of it together for the final product. If you love marching band, this elective is for you!
Study the percussive instruments used across the globe and learn the unique techniques each uses. *This elective is open to all campers.
